Professional Review:

“Anatomy of an Epidemic is incredibly informed, spectacularly readable corrective to the conventional wisdom about the biological bases—and biological cures—for mental illness. This is itself a wise and necessary book—essential reading for all those who have experienced, or care for those who have experienced, mental illness—which as a matter of fact includes everyone! Robert Whitaker is a reliable, sensible, and persuasive, guide to the paradoxes and complexities of what we know about mental illness, and what we might be able to do to lessen the suffering it brings.” —Jay Neugeboren, author of Imagining Robert and Transforming Madness

Customer Review:"I would absolutely recommend this book for anyone who, like me, sees friends and family members and ponders why there is such a disconnect between the public message that there are safe and effective treatments for mental illness and the reality that so many people are prescribed psychiatric drugs for years and still see little improvments  I have read many books on this topic but I appreciated this one particularly because of the clarity of the narrative."

Why I Chose This Book: I chose this book because unlike most of the books I chose it doesn't focus on a specific disease. It focuses on the anatomy of epidemics and the whole topic of mental illness.
